HISTORY
The publication and editing of the Yearbook of the “Constantin Brăiloiu” Institute of Ethnography and Folklore (“IEF Yearbook”) are closely connected to the institutional development of ethnological research within the Romanian Academy.
From 1979 to 1989, the old series of the Yearbook was published by the Institute for Ethnological and Dialectological Research, subordinated to the Council of Socialist Culture and Education. The issues consisted predominantly of articles based on scholarly papers presented during the institute’s annual conferences, offering an overview of the state of both field and theoretical research during that period.
Beginning with 1990, the institute became the Institute of Ethnography and Folklore „Constantin Brăiloiu” and was reintegrated into the structures of the Romanian Academy, a development reflected, among other things, in the New Series of the Yearbook, which became established as a leading academic resource for Romanian ethnological research.
