National Culture Day

National Culture Day is celebrated on 15 January each year, the anniversary of the birth of Mihai Eminescu. The day offers an opportunity to pay homage to Romania’s greatest poet and to consider the role culture plays in preserving and cultivating national identity. National Culture Day originated as an initiative of the Romanian Academy and was ratified by the Romanian Parliament in 2010.
