Romanian Academy Prizes

The Romanian Academy Prizes are the most prestigious Romanian acknowledgement awarded to creators and scientists. The recipients can be from within the country or from abroad, and the prizes recognise activity and work that promotes the development of Romanian culture and science. Historically, the Romanian Academy Prizes predate the institution's foundation, originating with a donation of 5,600 gold pieces by Prince Alexandru Ioan Cuza to reward the most valuable works in Romanian. The prizes are awarded in December each year during a dignified General Assembly ceremony in the Academy's Aula.
